Lamentin AirportYou will find all you may possibly need at the airport: banks, bars, shops, currency exchange facilities, hairdresser salons, port office, taxis, photocopiers, fax machines, restaurants. Regular airlinesRegular shuttles connect Martinique to its neighbouring islands. You can choose between several airlines, the most well-known ones being Air Antilles Express, Air Caraibes and Take Airlines. It is indispensable to book in advance, as planes are small in size and baggage limitations are strict. You are usually permitted to carry heavy baggage on paying a surcharge, though only if the plane is not full. Charter airlinesCharters fly you to practically all the islands: Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Barthelemy, Saint Martin, the Saints, Sainte Lucia, the Grenadines. Check-in times are more flexible than with regular flights, and reservation is also very fast, and in coordination with connecting flights. Planes depart from a small airport next to Lamentin International Airport. Charters are a practical and fast option of travelling between the islands. Private jet rentalRenting a private jet is a pleasant alternative solution, especially as regular airlines sometimes display outrageous prices and uncomfortable timetables. If you are, say, a group of friends, the experience will not cost you more than the plane tickets would, and you will be free to fly in and out of the island whenever you please.
Boat links between the islands
Lovers of the sea will not trade the boat experience for any plane ride. They can choose between two major service providers: L’Express des Iles or Brudey Freres transports. Note that regular companies often advertise reduced prices if you reserve two weeks beforehand. So do not hesitate to book from home, especially if you are travelling in the high season, as available boats may be scarce in this period. Don’t forget that locals also travel a lot, especially during weekends and holidays.
