Quality of service on Saint Barth is highly superior to that on other Caribbean islands, which can be considered good news. Prices are usually quite high, which comes as no surprise if we take into account the general aspect of the island. French gastronomy is all around, and prized chefs often reserve their talent to the clientele of this tiny island. Most gastronomic restaurants are situated in the vicinity of luxury hotels: do not hesitate to try them out even if the surrounding hotels are not at all your style. Creole cuisine does not hold a preponderant place on the menus, with the exception of a restaurant or two. The island’s clientele is varied and international, and they often prefer to indulge in the pleasures of French or Italian culinary delights instead of the more simple pleasures of a goat colombo.

A small tip on tips: be aware that Saint Barth’s restaurant staff is used to welcoming a clientele from all corners of the world, and France is one of the only places where service is actually included in the price.
