Saint Barthelemy holds the status of free port, and good bargains are thus everywhere, not to mention the fact that it’s so much more elegant than shopping in Jersey. MATCH is the island’s leading supermarket, but probably not the best choice, as prices are significantly higher than in other, less well positioned grocery stores. For really good prices, check out the smaller stores (Anse des Cayes, Flamands, Corossol, Lurin, Marigot). Shops are open from Monday to Friday the whole day, and until 1 p.m. on Saturday, though usually closed on Sundays. Saint Barth is a paradise for luxury shopping; classy shops are numerous in the “Carre d’or” of Gustavia: the atmosphere is so posh here you’ll think you’re in Cannes! Don’t forget to hide your beautiful duty-free Cartier, though, when passing through customs in France: our dear customs officials are all around the arrivals terminal of flights from Saint Barth and Saint Martin.
The port of Gustavia prides in a small fruit and vegetable market, and an AMC supermarket. Another large supermarket is placed near the airport, and there are also a few shops in Lorient: Chez Jojo and Minimart. You can find all chic and luxury products on their premises (Chopard, Bulgari, Gucci, Cartier, Jaegger, Lecoultre), as well as local handicraft (wickerwork, table sets, bread baskets made from latan palm leaves), and needless to say, all is tax-free.
In terms of local handicraft, don’t miss buying a couple of objects weaved from latan palm leaves.

A paradise for shopping fans of all styles, Saint Barth will delight fashion victims with its elegant little shops concentrated in the regions of Gustavia and Saint Jean. You will find all the unusual and unique clothes you may be looking for in the great variety of these small stores eternally at a rush for originality. Fashion on Saint Barth is similar to that in Saint Tropez. Tariffs are as varied as can be, from the reasonable to the insane. Famous international brands are all around too, with showrooms of most French or Italian haut couture houses, enabling you to make the best use of your credit card.
