The Jazz Festival of Saint Lucia

Inaugurated in 1992, The Jazz Festival or - St-Lucia Jazz - offers an international panorama of famous Jazzmen and welcomes talented artists such as David Sanborn, Carlos Santana, Patti Labelle, Ashford & Simpson, Brandford Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Luther François, Georges Benson, just to name a few. The rhythm, music and atmosphere on the spot form a delicate vibration. The 9 days of the Festival take place during the month of May each year, and for more than ten years now. The Festival is articulated around outdoor events, cultural sites, and also in private mansions offering private shows. List of artists and event programmes.

The Jazz Festival has an international character, but the party atmosphere sported by the population is displayed all throughout the year. It bears witness to this wealth of culture that never gives up the opportunity to defend creolity and the arts that stem from it. Note that the Creole language even has a celebration just for itself, on the last Sunday in October. Although a symbolic celebration, it nevertheless illustrates the importance of the language.

The Calypso Festival

(in July) is the stage for a music contest where participants compete to become King and Queen. Music was once in the past a way to preserve one's dignity. Today it attracts crowds and at times it even becomes the interpreter for current issues in society. And everyone knows about the carnival (in July), where souls literally merge together and where you can experience that pleasant sense of airiness that you can feel in the tropics.
