Ports and moorings

At the northern tip of Saint Lucia, near Martinique, Gros-Islet Bay is sheltered by Pigeon islet, which has become a peninsula now that a breakwater of sand connects it with the land. You can moor up in the shelter of the islet or in the southern part of the bay, in front of one of its beautiful beaches. The extremity of the bay opens up onto the lagoon at Rodney Bay, which is perfectly sheltered and almost entirely closed. It connects with the sea by a narrow sea channel, and the entrance to it is marked off. You can moor in the lagoon, or tie up at the wharf at the marina.
The marina at Rodney Bay is the best port and has all the facilities you could need: showers, shops, banks, restaurants… Near Castries, the small inlet at Vigie provides a pleasant spot but it is a little noisy, because it's only a stone's throw from the airport. To the south of Castries, you can moor at Marigot Bay, a deep bay that is protected very well. Many restaurants have set up shop at this most beautiful site. Most of the island's main tourist attractions are concentrated around Soufrière and Deux-Pitons Cove. You can moor in the bay of Soufrière, in front of the village. A little further to the south, you can also moor between the two pitons, twin sugarloaves that plunge 800 meters in the sea.
