Music
You are in the Caribbean, so music is more than just rhythm, it’s an
integral part of everyday life. There is no occasion that is not a party
occasion here, and the atmosphere swings with melodies of zouk (Kassay, Zouk
Machine, Ralph Thamar etc.), reggae and its multiple variants, ragga,
meringue, beguine, gwoka and jazz. Live gigs are organised by several
establishments around Cabrel or Johnny, and don’t miss out on the music
festival in the month of February. And let’s face it: it is by far easier
for ladies to experience the “secret” of Antillean rhythms than it is for
men… sirs, take a deep breath and let your ladies go.
Gospel
Sundays are rendered unforgettably
lively by the sounds of choir music that fill the churches and their
surroundings. Gospel music rocks the soul and delights foreign passers-by
with its unique rhythms: an authentic moment in the life of Saint Martin,
vibrating with happiness and joy.
